| (Originally posted Mar. 27, 2001)--After a lot of procrastinating, we finally made some progress these past two weeks in getting the nursery ready for the twins.
Deciding on a theme for the nursery wasn't too tough; of course we chose a Noah's Ark theme. Babies R' Us had lots of nice-looking Noah's Ark patterns to choose from and we've already received some cute items from friends and family as baby shower gifts.
Two weeks ago we bought two cribs from a member of our local Parents of Multiples club (the couple that sold the cribs to us has triplets about to turn three--they sold us two cribs and are giving the third to an expectant niece). This past weekend, we bought a changing table. They are all put together and ready to go!
We also have an artist friend making some canvases for us that will go on the walls of the nursery (again in the Noah's Ark theme). The artist happens to be a new grandmother of twins and she did the same thing for her daughter, only her daughter had boy-girl twins so she chose a King and Queen in a castle theme. We're starting to get excited and it almost looks like a real nursery now.
We had a doctor's visit today and things continue to go smoothly. Diane's blood pressure remains normal so no bed rest yet. Yeah! They checked the twins' heartbeats today with Baby A coming in at 157 and Baby B at 151. The nurse taking the readings guessed that means two girls (since girls heartbeats are higher than boys?), but Craig still is guessing a boy and a girl and I'm still thinking two boys. One of us is going to be right!
Let's see, what else? Oh, Craig has actually begun to feel movement from the twins! He's been talking to them nightly and maybe they finally got tired of hearing his voice and kicked to shut him up! Whatever the reason, he's pretty excited to feel them!
Thanks to everyone who has been sending us email about the pregnancy. The next doctor's appointment won't be for another two weeks when Diane will also be tested for gestational diabetes. But we'll add any updates here during that time if we find anything else interesting to write about...
