| (Originally posted Dec. 11, 2000)--Since we last posted a diary entry, there hasn't been too much to report.
Like most expectant parents, we've shared the news with our family and friends, started making early preparations for dealing with the impending lifestyle changes, and spent most of our time trying to educate ourselves about the added challenges of delivering twins.
Today, we visited our OB-GYN for the second time. Mostly precautionary at this point, Dr. Hartshorne reassured us that everything was going well with the twins. She measured both babies and they were exactly where they should be at 12 weeks of development.
She also did another ultrasound, allowing us to see for the first time our twins moving. Diane thinks they are both girls because they were jumping up and down like little cheerleaders. Craig is leaning towards a boy/girl twin set and thinks they knew they were on camera and are little hams like their daddy.
We probably differ from most parents-to-be of twins in that we still don't want to learn the sex(es) of the babies before they're born. It might make it more difficult to buy things in advance, but we both want to hear the doctor say those magical words, "you have a son" or "you have a daughter" or "you have another son" or "you have another daughter" or "you have one of each!"
There's so much more to learn about carrying and delivering twins and we are pouring over the many good books out there on the subject, reading our Twin Talk Bulletin Board, and will be attending a Houston Parents of Multiples meeting in early January. Our next appointment with the doctor is in five weeks, when we expect to have a full ultrasound and possibly even determine if the twins are identical or fraternal.
We're enjoying every minute of this experience and are thankful we're able to share it with you.
